bullshit. It's rubbish to you because you probably don't understand it, but
even at that, it's still worth seeing. |

Ah the age old 'You probably don't understand it'. You don't have to
understand a movie to like or hate it, hey i'm a big David Lynch fan!
Nah it's rubbish because it's trying to be clever but isn't. |

i'm not trying to pull any age old shit. Fact is, there was a thread about
Darko on this newsgroup back in July. Very few offered their thoughts and
those who did had varied opinions. I know Ebert and Roeper don't get it.
Roeper's on the right track though. U some kind of genius who got it first
time around and thought it was just shit?
How can you say it wasn't clever? christ. it's complex. it's very clever.
Anyone who says otherwise, I can only assume they don't get it.. maybe they
didn't pay close enough attention. whatever. I loved the scene when
donnie's parents are talking to the therapist while he's tapping the knife
against the mirror while envisioning the demonic rabbit. whenever I want to
entice a friend to see the movie, I show 'em that scene. excellent film.
very cool. very clever.
Memento has nothing to offer after the first viewing. It's figure out.
over and done with. why is that better than donnie darko? You just some
lynch fan who shits on everyone else b/c it doesn't compare to lynch? darko
and mulholland are probably the 2 best american made psychological thrillers
I've seen in recent years. |
