Jean Arthur. Joel McCrea, Charles Coburn, Directed, brilliantly, by
George Stevens.

It had been many years since I've seen it but on my DVD buying binge
lately I got a copy. Easily one of the greatest screwball comedies
ever made. You know it's funny when you are watching it in your
screening room, all alone, and you laugh out loud constantly. That's
what I did.

I hesitate to say this out loud but ... is there anyone who just
doesn't adore Jean Arthur? Boy, she's terrific here. One of her best
performances. And the always reliable, and vastly underrated, Joel
McCrea. Charles Coburn. What can you say? His comic timing here is
absolute perfection.

So many memorable scenes. The opening set-up with Coburn renting the
apartment. The necking scene on the stoop must be one of the sexiest
and most romantic scenes of the 1940s.

The whole thing is a pure delight from beginning to end.
