I called Lectro last week wondering if there was an option for the SR
RX to have the TA5 audio output mounted on the bottom plate instead
of
the D type connector or TA3's.......
Apparently this is NOT an option. I just thought this would be a
neater (wart free)
way of doing things (in combination with the right angle TA5F--> 2 x
XLRM cable) if you are using the unit mainly in a saddle bag or as 2
inbound channels in your audio bag.
Any comments?? |

Hi Jon,
All you are saving is a TA3F connector. In exchange, you have a more
complicated plug to wire. As has been mentioned on RAMPS, that 5 pin
TA5F connector with two, three conductor cables coming out of it to
two XLR's has given us fits. Furthermore, you aren't saving much
physical space in the bag either since even one connector defines the
receiver stand off distance. As far as being wart free, the wart
exists to work with slot cameras that don't enable the second input,
though it would work in a bag also. Finally, no matter my opinion, if
enough people want a 5 pin on the bottom, it will be done but it takes
more than just a few users.
By the way, we have finalized a compact right angle TA5F or TA3F
machined metal connector that can be turned in any direction. It will
work on the SR wart, the SR bottom adapter plate or our 5 pin
transmitter connectors. The plastic right angle is history.
Since it is a R(ight) A(ngle) T(A5F) connector and will be sold as an
all purpose PAC(kage) with 3 and 5 pin inserts, large and small back
shells and a variety of strain relief tubing, it is, of course, the
RATPAC.

Thanks Larry!
The only issue for me was not having right angle TA3s available and
thus good chances of the bent over output cables from the connectors
malfunctioning after bouncing around in a bag.
Its great news that there are now dependable 90deg TA connectors
available.. I will probably go ahead and order my SR with TA3 outputs
now and just switch the base plates if I need to put it in a camera
slot.
BTW are Lectro still manufacturing units in the 700mhz range? I just
bought 2 UCR411/UM400a's under a year ago on block 29.. and loos like
their useful days are numbered!
