Yeah, I have a set. Isolation is superb, but tone is not good. They should
use better drivers.

They're actually just $285, but I agree that they work very well, even
if I did design them. (mine actually cost more because I got the
optional talkback mic).
I've used them several times in just the last few weeks on two
different shows. The first show had tons of gunfire and the second has
a lot of car tow insert work. Most everyone in this biz encounters the
need to record in loud environments, whether it's near helicoptors,
jets, gunfire, rock concerts, NASCAR, screaming girls around Miley
Cirus events... and the list goes on.
Protecting your ears is a very important thing, of course, but the
HN-7506 isolation headphone also let me know what is being recorded
while I'm working on a noisy insert car rig or in a high wind
situation (the standard Sony headphones have wind noise).

Personally, I don't have a problem with spending $295 on something
like that if it does the job - which is, essentially, to protect my
hearing while allowing me to work in a noisy environment. I also
appreciate their decision to use the well-known Sony driver, to
maintain some level of familiarity.

Remote Audio!
The best money I ever spent. I have only used mine 5 times in 2
years but every time I had to use them, I was so glad that I had
them. I worked the Molson Indy a few years back and we did some
shooting in the pits..... Other sound guys showed me how loud they
were monitoring with regular headphones and It nearly split my ears in
two! I let them put mine on and they were almost embarrassed that
they were not using proper precautions.
Protecting my ears is the best investment I every made... One of the
smartest choices I ever made.
