Originally opened in 1915 as the Niles Center Theatre, the Skokie Theatre
has been recently transformed into a state-of-the-art music and theatre
venue. The Silent Film Society is excited to be part of the Skokie Theatre's
programming for 2008 and welcomes the opportunity to bring several silent
films into an intimate setting. All shows begin at 8:00 p.m., and renowned
silent film organist Jay Warren will provide live photoplay accompaniment.

May 16 - "Down to the Sea in Ships" with Clara Bow and Raymond McKee
Kidnapping, murder, mutiny at sea and hungry sharks -- who could want more?
"Ships" is Clara Bow's earliest surviving film. the cinematography of
authentic whaling footage is remarkable for its time, but it is 16-year-old
Bow that shines in this story.

Ticket Info
Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors. Tickets are
$12 day of show. Tickets are available at the Skokie Theatre box office,
7924 N. Lincoln Avenue in Skokie. If paying by check, please make checks
payable to the Skokie Theatre Music Foundation. For more information, call

Was the previous naming of the now Skokie Theater a result of the
Niles, Ca. Essanay Studio location or in honor of the same railroad
attorney, or ??

Hey, a silent sea picture on the big screen! I wonder if Down to the Sea is
available on DVD or video? I'd like to see Old Ironsides in a theater
sometime. If Paramount and Universal... oh, well, I can dream....Wink
