I don't understand why "The Golden Compass" was considered so
controversial. I never would have watched it ordinarily, but I
wanted to see what all the uproar was about. It was good. It does
show a difference in religions, based on how the people react to a
negative picture, because the Muslims start riots over a cartoon while
the Christians just complain. In that regard, the Christians won.
The story told is of an alternate world with an alternate reality.
Don't worry about it. The only reason "The Golden Compass" was
considered so controversial was because people have a guilty
conscience that they lie to their kids about Santa Claus and God. But
that doesn't mean religion should be considered "Modern Mythology". |
