For sale:
One absolutely pristine Nagra IV-STC with 7" tray mod. Used in the
field for years, but babied by the anal mixer using it the mchine
still looks, sounds and operates like new. The plastic cover isn't
even scratched! Delivered in it's very own Pelican case, where it has
lived since the cancellation of Marshall Law (and subsequent purchase
of a Deva IV). Seriously, you could eat off this thing (which is about
all an old Nagra is good for, anyway, right?)! I have no idea what this
thing is worth, so if you're seriously interested contact me off list
and we can talk about it. I will also include 2 stereo input cables.
Also for sale: One Nagra L. Near pristine condition. Not in a case.
I also have a case of 40 unopened Quantegy 406 tapes, should anyone be
in need.
We may now return to our regularly scheduled rantings.

interest hear I'll put 'em up on ebay, but I prefer to offer them up,
here, first.

I forgot to mention...the L recorder has a custom built internal
switch (installed in England in 1982) which allows the selection of
either 50Hz or 60Hz power.

Are you sure the switch is for selecting 50Hz or 60Hz power?
I ask because a number of IV series recorders (IV-L, 4.2) had crystal sync
generators that permitted selection of 50Hz or 60Hz pilot signal by a switch
on the crystal board.
If I recall correctly (and I don't have a recorder in front of me), the Xtal
board was on the plastic or fiberglass battery compartment. It would be on
the left, just behind the preamps. (That is, farther away from the
faceplate) The 50Hz/60Hz switch, I think, was on the right side of the board
so it would be very near the center of the recorder.
Of course, many Nagras had special modifications so anything is possible.

Positive. I got this Nagra from the man who had the switch installed,
and he's the guy who told me it's in there and what it does. The switch
is inside the casing. You have to open it up to make the change.
