I have the usual assortment of hours of silent Kodachrome Super8 film
from 30+ years ago. All the film was processed by Kodak. Some film is
still on their original small (50' ?) reels and some film I had spliced
onto much larger reels. These reels have been sitting untouched in a
dark cool location since then.
Much of the film content is very important to me, and I am willing to
pay for their quality transfer to mini-DV tapes.
Could I please have recommendations of transfer labs that I should
consider for this? And, of course, if there are any guidelines (or
sites) that I should be aware of for this project, please advise.
Thanks for any response to this blanket appeal for info to help get me
up to speed on my transfer project. I have Googled-out some old
postings on all this, but would like a current view of things.

i don't think anyone post here anymore. i saw all the old postings too,
and decied to ask an question, but only one person emailed me, but that
was it. your better of going
to:8mmforum.film-tech.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=firstaccess1061676084,
just copy and paste it to your adress bar. that place has alot of
people that know alot about super 8 and regular 8mm film. or you can go
to www.filmshooting.com, same type thing

I have used this company to do a superb wet-gate transfer of one of my
student films to Mini-DV. They aren't cheap though as they use a Rank
Cintel to do the transfer. They are one of the only places offering a
wet-gate transfer.
