Has anybody experienced this? When I tap on the metal base of the
antenna on my Lectro 411a I hear a tapping sound that gets into the
audio channel. I can also flip the antenna end with my finger and
hear the antenna whipping back and forth also getting into the audio
channel. During the tapping sound there is also a hiss sound that
rises and then disappears. If I don't touch the antennas the receiver
seems to work normally. Is this some kind of grounding problem?

Have you tried a different cable or switching to batteries? |

Is it only when you touch the antenna's. Have you tried having
someone else touch them, or another object.

Running on batteries or using a different xlr cable does not make a
difference. In further experiementing I do hear the tapping when I
tap on the power cable but not the XLR cable. I also realize that the
whole receiver housing seems to be sensitive to tapping and I can hear
it in that audio channel on my mixer.
I've tried tapping the antennas and receiver housing with a non-
conducting object and I still hear the tapping.

T-power and 48 phantom are both off. On the occasion that I have left
on the phantom it never created this mircophonic type effect on the
housing of a Receiver.
I've taken one of my other 411a Receivers and plug it into the same
power and xlr cable and I do not experience this microphonic problem.
So I am guessing it is something internal to this receiver.

Vin,
The only thing close I could find in Lecto's FAQ is titled:
"What causes noise in the receiver if I tap or hit the case of the
transmitter? Or if I tap the mic cable?"
That does not apply to my situation since the noise is when I hit the
Receiver not the Transmitter.

Hi Andy,
There may be a poor solder joint on a shield in the receiver, a
cracked ceramic resonator in an oscillator or a cold solder joint in
the same area. If it is an original assembly problem (i.e., our fault)
we don't charge to fix the unit. I can ask Dean in customer service if
there is any problem that causes your symptoms but it sounds like a
trip to the mother ship. As I understand it, substituting a different
receiver clears up the problem, so it sounds like the receiver is
broken.
Best Regards,
Larry Fisher
