I've seen many references to the Will Hay comedies but I've never seen
one. Can you give me a frame of reference to what they're like? Thanks |

Hay was a former music-hall comic. His character in the films is
usually a befuddled and completely inept man who, through
circumstances or misunderstanding, nabs a position of prestige (school
headmaster, police constable, chief of a railway station) who then
blunders through a caper set up by others. He was frequently assisted
in his films by two sidekicks, a fat young man and somebody who
appeared to be 129 years old. HEY, HEY, USA! may be one that holds the
most interest today (for Americans, anyway) because Hay is teamed with
good ol' reliable Edgar Kennedy, who was visiting England at the time,
in that one. |

Eh, hey hey usa is the only NFV will hay video with bad sound,
the rest are all right. Will Hay's first movie isn't very good,
but most of the rest are great. Convict 99, etc.
