I am trying to determine the provenance of 120 glass coming attraction
slides I just acquired. The slides date roughly from the period 1919
to 1926. I was told by the seller that the individual who sold him
the slides says they came from a theater in Tacoma Washington twenty
five years ago. The seller, from Denver Colorado, can give me no
additional details. There is a tantalizing possibility that the
slides came from the historic Blue Mouse Theater in Tacoma, opened in
1923 as the John Hamrick's Blue Mouse Theater, and still in operation
today. The Blue Mouse changed owners in 1972 which would square with
the slides coming up for sale roughly 25 years ago. I have written
to the Manager of the Blue Mouse to see if they have any record of
these slides.
Does anyone know of any other theaters in the Tacoma Washington area
that these slides may have originated from?
Would slides for a film 1919 or earlier be shown in a theater that
opened in November 1923?

No, but one can easily imagine a situation where one theater manager left an
older theater to take a job at the new theater in '23 and took his glass slides
with him.
I think tracing them will be next to impossible. These went out to many
(hundreds? at least dozens) of theaters during the period and they could have
come from just about anywhere, or even result from the merging of a couple of
different collections.
