the answer clearly is: no.
she wanted to do her movie on mohamadism in pakistan, with daniel pearl as
the jewish man who would have known better if he had read koran. denied the
movie-shooting right in pakistan, she picked india because in her racist
eyes "all brown people look same, so must be same". however, the dumb hindus
are ok with that.
however, what that does is it blurs the difference between mohamadism and
the hindus.
do the hindus want that kind of image? the poor hindus living in the white
countries are trying very very hard to stand out away from anything that
mistakenly identify them as mommedans. i see hindu women now never
forgetting to wear dots on their foreheads before stepping otside their
houses, and some men even wear decoration on their foreheads that they
normally wouldn't. the hindu men are now seen clean shaven, or sport very
light moustache. you will not find them in beard, well groomed or
otherwise.
the british hindus even went thr' all the trouble to declare that they are
not "south asians" or "asians", and brits better not call them that ugly
thing. this pretty much separated hindus from other brown peoples, mainly
mommedans. why can't the hindus in india, therefore, use their grey matter
before kissing any hollywood guy who lands there with a money bag?
if the hindus in india don't speak up, and tell racist angie jolly to hang
it up, they will be denied visas to usa because they are likely to be
thought of as being terrorist look-alike. |

at first glance i found your post appalling. but it is undeniable that it
paints the sad reality as it is. jolly is not a racist by choice but a
racist of sort nevertheless in a practical sense that your post talks about.
she couldn't be expected to understand, and perhaps would care less even she
understood, how it would affect lives of the hindus with her work.
i doubt she will spend even one scene her whole movie on daniel pearl that
will show hindus as wonderful people. she, on the other hand, can be
expected to take due care to elaborate the cliche that "all mommedans are
not terrorist symapthizers".

Apparently some African-American black groups aren't too happy with
Jolie playing Pearl's wife; the wife is part Cuban/African-American
mix, so whitebread Jolie must appear in blackface. I thought blackface
went out with, what, Al Jolson?

Because they need the money? Daniel Pearl's wife is thrilled that Brad
Pitt's new wife will be playing her. I'd be thrilled, too.

You're assuming Angie will be as huge a draw for this biopic as she was
for Oliver Stone's biopic.
