I was asked by a friend if I knew of any computer program that will give
an X-Y display. I don't, so I thought I would ask anyone here. Anybody?
Thanks in advance,

If you want a stand alone program you could try the SpectraFoo by Metric
Halo. It has a lot of other kinds of metering in it.

What platform, interface(s), and apps?
RME's Digicheck (free but only works with their cards) includes one. |

Sorry, forgot about that. Platform is PC, and afaik he just wants to
check .wav and MP3 files, not real time analysis.
Thanks again for your input.

Check out spectrafoo, http://www.mhlabs.com/images/SF_X.gif
It is such a darned useful program that I dedicate a tower with AES/EBU
ins to it while mixing.

If your friend is looking for more complete monitoring I saw this product
(in beta) at NAB.
It is from Serious Magic called DV RACK and provides extensive video and
audio monitoring as well as video recording from any firewire DV input. The
audio monitoring has a waveform scope and spectrum analyser as well as the
ability to do quality checking by placing flags when audio or video exceeds
certain set levels. Finds pops, clippin etc. and flags them in the waveforem
timeline.

Don't know when it will ship for real though.

Thanks everyone! Oscar, Frank, Kurt, Courtney, Philip, Jay and Jeff, I
looked at all the suggestions and found that Winscope is perfect for the
simple analysis that this will be used for, especially for the price ;')
(shareware).
Thanks again,
