Yeah, yeah I know you do. I'm sending the remote to Dave Fisk tomorrow
for testing & evaluation. Hope the Portadrive sells so we can all make
some money.

Would you mind letting us know your reasons for going with the
PortaDrive, vs. the competition? I DON'T know anyone who has one,
and have only seen them @ shows.

thanks

We (Trew Audio) have the HHB in stock for sale and rent. Those who are
particularly interested in the HHB PortaDrive include turn-key
(start-to-finish) production companies. The advantage they see is being able
to bypass the transfer stage all together by plugging the original hard
drive directly into their ProTools; going to work immediately.

Sure Phillip.

Firstly I have been privy to details of the development of the
Portadrive since 2002 as my company Sound Techniques represent
HHB here in New Zealand.

The Deva has alway interested us but communication with the area
representative failed to produce any positive results so we could
not promote that product as we had done with the Fostex DAT machines
during the 90's.

You will have only seen machines at shows because not only do they
come from the UK (designed and built) but the first 40 machines were
only released to some dealers during January this year.

My machine is No 0034 and was delivered with beta software but since
has had two software updates installed.

I have not used a Deva only handled one owned by Simon Bishop.

I find the Portadrive layout to be very intuitive and also that the
3 display areas offer so much information.

I have made two suggestions on the use of the machine and the
first of these regarding metadata has been implemented in V1.2 an the
other regarding set-up information is yet to be included.

The facts that it uses FAT32 files and that material produced can be
imported directly into Protools is possibly a significant advantage
and will play an important part in seeing the machine becoming very
well established here in New Zealand and no doubt elsewhere.

Regards

Mike
