I don't matter, but I have mental illness, so I think that I do.
Everybody hates me and thinks I'm a pest.
And my left hand is disfigured and horrible.
Actually, I offend people so much by shitting on them that they won't help
me do squat.

Just as Saddam Hussin is responsible for 9/11, there is no proof, yet...
Also, there does not exist not even *one* single document that Hitler

After _Sky Captain_ came out, I pointed out in another ng that the most
interesting thing about it was that movie production cost now comes
under Moore's Law. Within a decade or two, it will be possible to make a
movie as professional looking, at least, as _Sky Captain_ for a couple
thousand bucks. (I qualify my statement because actors are still needed
at the moment. That will change too, sooner or later.)
As examples of this phenomenon, have you seen
Kaze: Ghost Warrior
http://www.kazeghostwarrior.com/
or
Blue - A Short Film
http://www.blueshortfilm.com/main.html
or
Rain, the Little Girl, and My Letter
http://www12.big.or.jp/~botan/
May I also recommend www.pocketmovies.net ? While a number of the movies are
lacking some will just blow you away. Also some take advantage of the fact
that they are CGI productions, in the fact you know what you are watching is
not real period - that makes what you are watching even funny. My idea of
the best example of that is "Typical Male Robot Behaviour", trying to mke it
realistic would have been a waste of effort and remove some of the fun.

It is now possible to make a decent feature-length
film in Mumbai for leass than US$200,000 -- employing
A-grade talent.

As opposed to grade-A talent? Just make sure you watch out for the
man-eating leopards....they've got about 10x as many as there is area
for (according to the show I watched last night). Turns out that LA
is having similar problems with mountain lions.....(though I'd have to
say that 6 deaths in 115 years doesn't even begin to sound serious to
me)
I plan to check out the pocketmovies tonight, at home.
If I could talk myself into doing the work, I think that I could
create an animated film by myself....but, I'd never convince myself to
stick to it....that's just reality. But if I would do it, it wouldn't
even cost thousands (of course, using bootleg software would be
necessary). |

thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself properly.
I'm a writer, filmmaker, former standup comedian and
syndicated newspaper columnist (the column is "Free
Association", the compilation book "Somewhere Between
Amused & Annoyed"). I currently live in Los Angeles
(Koreatown, for those who know the city) - moved here in
October 2003 from North Carolina. Since that time, I've
written/directed/produced a short film that is playing on
the festival circuit (two so far) and a writing partner
of mine and I sold a treatment to a production company
that makes films for a cable channel; we turn in the
second draft today, and they apparently are anxious to go
to production. I am working with another partner on a
series idea; we have the pilot script, 15 pages of
episode 2 and a rudimentary bible assembled. And I have
my own stacks of solo work in progress.
I maintain the FAQ for a group called
alt.comedy.standup, which is currently under cross-
posting attack from Dr. Jai and Pink Nebulous from some
other group many of you know.
I'm chatty and try to be helpful re: questions,
although occasionally I will respond with a smart-ass
answer because...well, that's just me.
So, I'm not as experienced in scriptwriting as some in
here, but I'm working on it. I'm pleased to make your
acquaintances, and with all that out of the way...
