Hey there,
I'm really new to this whole Super8 filming thing, in fact I don't
even have my camera yet. My friend's neighbor gave him a Braun NIZO
S-480 a few months ago and my friend hasn't even bought a projector
let alone any film so I said I'd give him twenty bucks for it when I
get back into the country. So done deal.
I get back in less than two weeks and I'm very excited about the
prospect of having a 'movie' camera. I've been into photography for
about two and a half years now, serious for about a year. I know a
little bit about the... general medium.
I'm curious, I've read a lot about the S-480, there's a lot of
resources online about Braun NIZO cameras and the 480 in particular.
I'm still not sure how to implement sound into my films, nor am I even
sure where or how to get the film processed, I assume that's a sort of
mail-away-and-process-somewhere-away-from-home sort of deal eh?
Anyway, back to the main topic of discussion... I'm going to try and
get 'aquainted' with my camera before the weather gets cold by doing
some shooting while me and my friend ride, down hills, on bikes... big
hills. Anyway, I want to practice with this because ultimately I want
to film this winter during snowboarding season and I want practice
doing all of that action shooting and whatnot, it sounds very dynamic,
but I'm sure it's not ;D
I've done a lot of still photography up at the hill and I know how to
take care of my little 35mm SLR, but how do I take care of an 8mm film
camera? I mean the mechanics of the camera are so different, the film
is constantly moving when the trigger is down; is it okay to run an
8mm in cold temperatures, like is it ok for the camera and the film
even?
Also, I haven't looked into, but are there any polarizing or UV
filters that I can get for my camera? I don't want the images to be
awash with white.
Also, do I have to plan out my project exactly before I start filming?
Or is editing an easy-ish process to get used to?
Any help you can give would be great appreciated, cheers!
