Hi Ladles and gentlespoons:
I'm working on a feature shot with NTSC rushes, and to be posted in the
UK with final film, (and of course all the other visual possibilities)
release.
Live music scene tomorrow. We will record, and shoot at the same time
(the director wants that live feel) been there done that . It was so
simple back in the "Nagra with neopilot" days - xtal sync. I have worked
MOW's with pre recorded music Pulled up for sync Playback. But we need
to use the previously recorded live tracks for playback.
Should I just use the backup TCDD8 tape as the playback master, or dub
on to my ancient but functional RD8 Fostex and pull up for playback?
really in a fog about correct procedure here, but will probably play it
safe and just play back in real time with no pull down/pull up.
Regards,
Jim Rillie |

You nailed it. What you recorded on set is at "real" time. It will be
pulled down in transfer. If you play back your original recording 30
FPS or a a dub of it, you will be fine In this case they will pull
everything down (live and play back) in transfer that way it all matches.

Agreed Ray
The only thing is the purist will not want to degrade the original
recording by pulling it down as opposed to leaving it untouched .... |

It's .1%, I doubt, on an original piece, that anyone would notice.
(even the talent)

Ray,
how long ago? I just read the other day that after April 5, they
weren't mailing out anymore stuff, it was on-site pickup only. I think
even if you don't get the stuff in the mail, you can pick up a new badge
on-site.

I registered through the Sound Devices site and received my pass two
weeks ago. Unfortunatly plans have changed and I won't be able to make
it to NAB. Put the regitration process seemed to work fine. |
