Drop one of these $40,000 drives in your recorder and you're all set for
"mission critical" applications.

Do any of you have clients willing to pay for this level of data
reliability? It doesn't give more battery runtime than hard drive (similar
current draws on write), but its temperature and shock immunity specs crush
a hard drive. They are almost as good as mil spec CF medium.

yes. It is cool. I am designing a product right now using NAND Flash
technology. Notice that it requires error correction, bad block management
and wear leveling algorithms that slow down the data rate. . al;though 40MB
/sec is within par for a lot of applications. The NAND chips themselves are
faster but prone to faults. Especially the 4 level (MLC-NAND) parts.
