No. Consider "Local Hero."

His role in Local Hero was wonderfully irreverent. The scene in which
his therapist is hanging outside of his high-rise office window is
priceless: he calls his secretary and says "There's a maniac on the
outside of the building. Shoot him. Shoot to kill." Lancaster's
character is a nut and an asshole and clearly he wasn't afraid to play
him. As I recall, he played the role for scale.

Easily overlooked is espionage thriller 'Scorpio', with Paul Scofield .

Appalling direction from (gulp) Michael Winner & a dreadful soundtrack /
score, but wonderfully performed by Lancaster & Paul Scofield.

Some very clever & acrobatic action sequences and a genuinely surprising
ending. Bear with the flaws & it's watchable because of Lancaster.
