One I saw recently was RIPLEY'S GAME, with John Malkovich, who puts Matt
Damon's performance in THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY to shame. RG has a rare
100% 'rating' from 'rotten tomatoes' website too.

Ebert and Roeper raved about it on a recent show.
It was okay, didn't live up to hype. The first half-hour was so dull I nearly
shut it off. Had a few funny, demented lines and Malkovich is a good sociopath.
That's the best I can say about it.

I see "Bring It On 2" is out... How that missed out on theatrical release
is beyond me!

I am wary of STV, being burned so many times, so I like it that some
of us discuss it here.

This might be a bit too low-level for most of the ramcf crowd, but I
found that _Hangman's Curse_, by Christian author Frank Peretti was
actually pretty good and well done, especially since most films of the
genre are not that great. It was like a really good quality tv movie.
Not really Christian at all (which makes me wonder if Peretti's
pulling an Amy Grant and distancing himself from his base), except for
a reference here and there that lets you know the protagonists were
Christians-- kind of distracting, really, either play the Christian
angle or don't!. You do have to suspend disbelief and buy into the
"Veritas Project" being like a domestic version of the Spy Kids
family, minus the sci-fi gadgetry, but some of that was kind of funny
and didn't take itself too seriously (like when the kids get caught
during a night raid dressed like commandos, or when 15 year old Elijah
goes on about his "FBI" training). It's kind of a teenage murder
mystery minus any real gore or outlandish violence (like I said, a
well done tv movie). It did have a positive message in the end
regarding some teen stereotypes (bullying jocks, the neo-goth crowd
dabbling in satanism--- though the satanists I knew in high school
looked fairly "normal" on the outside).

RIPLEY'S GAME, starring John Malkovich. Haven't seen it myself, but
word has it it's quite good. It's straight to DVD, however. . .g!
