I just got my PortaBrace case back from the factory. It was "refitted"
so the 302 would better fit into the case that it was made for. Sounds
like MASH.
The mixer sits higher but it looks damn near Impossible to use the
straps and keep the sides of the mixer dry in even a light drizzle. To
use the straps the way they were intended exposes each side of the
front panel. They've put another bottom in the case, raising the mixer
but resulting in 1 1/2" of dead space between the mixer and battery
pak.

Their stuff is usually second to none and a pleasure to use. To kludge
a brand new "premium" case is a total p!ss off.

Trew Audio has the Petrol bag for the 302 in stock. I've only given them a
quick glance, but they seemed well made and well thought out, with a lot of
detail. While I can't yet vouch for them personally, our sales staff says
that they are being well received. I'm told that our first batch sold out
fast, with no returns. They are new enough that they are not on our website
yet, but a call to the sales department will get most questions answered
(800-241-8994, US & Canada).

I got my Petrol bag the week before last from Trew Audio. It is a much
more impressive piece than the Portabrace that I got and then
returned, and sells for only about 25 bucks more than the PortaBrace.
It includes a pair of detachable transmitter pouches, and enough space
for a couple of wireless receivers. I agree that the PBs are usually
top-flight bags, but they seem to have missed the boat on the 302 bag.
Skylor at Trew told me that they had gotten in a number of the
Petrols. If you act fast, maybe you can still pick one up. This is
not a compensated endorsement, but I have always found Glenn and the
entire staff at Trew Audio to be extremely helpful. Glenn, if you
want to send me any swag, you have my address Wink.

It would be nice if PortaBrace took some responsibility for this mess.
Instead of reworking the original design, they should just make a new
unit. Meanwhile i'm out of pocket $225 canadian plus shipping to get
the bag reworked.

Glen
you were going to put me on the email list to let me know when you
were opening.

PortaBrace has always supplied great stuff...unfortunately, not this
time, and they know it.

It is nice to see Petrol enter the market, 2 manufacturers are better
than one! Just like Glen opening up in T.O. Competition is good.

-Jason (waiting for that invite as well, I hope we didn't get left-out!)

Does anyone have a link to some descriptive photos of the Petrol 302 bag?

So far, the only pic I've seen is a top view that Oleg and I posted a
few months ago. I would like to see more details/views.

I can take a few shots this week, put it on the SD web site, then post a
link here. It looks like a nice compact, complete solution for the 302.
