Expect variety from S.F. film festival

By Karen Hershenson

CONTRA COSTA TIMES

AFTER THE SOMBER mood of the post-9/11 San Francisco International Film
festivals, this year's event bristles with the voices of filmmakers from all
over the globe, speaking out on topics both serious and bizarre.

That's how festival executive director Roxanne Messina Captor described the
lineup at a news conference Tuesday. The event runs April 15-29 in San
Francisco, the East Bay and South Bay.

Also on the music agenda, the Alloy Orchestra will accompany a pristine new
print of the Buster Keaton silent "The General," also "Dans la Nuit," a 1929
French film that festival programming consultant Tom Luddy described as
"astonishing."
