Does anyone know if this projector supports Regular 8 in addition to Super 8
film? Also, if it does support different 8mm formats, does it need
sprockets and film gates for Super 8 and Regular 8 film?
Thanks,

If this projector supported both formats it would be an 824D. But it seems
to me that I have an 824 in the basement. AIR, this model lacks a feed
sprocket. Otherwise a nice, stereo machine with quirky, co-axial reels.

I just sold one on E-Bay and they are standard 8 and super 8 with dual
sprockets and a different gate that you change over.

Well, then.

It's not an 824 that I have in my basement. Sorry for the misleading
non-info.

Thanks tense. I can get the different sprockets. But do you think it is
possible to run Regular 8 through it with a Super 8 gate? Looking at a
picture of this projector, I think one has to remove the front panel in
order to change the gates. The one I may get, may NOT have a Regular 8 gate
with it. I am wondering if one can run Regular 8 film in it with the Super
8 gate but, of course, the correct sprockets.
Thanks for any info,

You are right Norm, except with the 824. For some reason it does not have
the D designation Smile
I do not think the 824 is a stereo machine. It allows for switching between
and for playing two tracks by mixing them down into one mono channel.

Further speculation will only confuse everybody further but I can't stop.
The machine in my basement is likely a 924. The one I keep upstairs and
really use is a 940 bought new from the Widescreen Centre years ago. Eumig
went broke before the 940 was marketed in the U.S.

This or maybe a 926 GL? Both of these in addition to the 940 are Stereo and
they are strictly for Super8.

Yes, the 940 was their last model sadly. I have the 940.
Back to the 824 thing ................ Smile

On the 824, the standard 8 sprockets are part of the projector, and the
super 8 clip on and off. When the super 8 are off it's standard 8 and when
you fit the super 8 back on it becomes super 8. As for the gates, they are
completely different and I doubt you can run standard 8 through the super 8
gate even with modifications.

Thanks tense. I'll not take chances with it. I'll just have to wait for
another 824 on eBay that comes with a complete set of gates and sprockets.
On a different note - this means on the Eumig 614D it is completely
different. One flips a switch to change between Super8 and Standard 8 -
apparently this switches the internal gates and sprockets without the user
changing anything. All one needs is the plastic adapter that allows a
Standard 8 reel to mount on the arm.

The guy who won my auction has been a bit slow to pay me, so if it falls

600 series don't have sprockets hence it is easy to make switch. But it
is just as easy to make a mistake...

As far as I can recall, It's perfectly possible to use the wrong gate.
