Folks,
Check out SilentsAreGolden.com this month! You'll find the first
installment of an online book by H.A.V. Bulleid who reviewed silent
films in England during the 1940's for a publication entitled "Famous
Library Films." Kevin Brownlow "discovered" Mr. Bulleid, who is now
in his nineties. Mr. Bulleid had intended to have his collection of
reviews published back in the 1940's, but circumstances prevented it
from happening. He had even solicited a preface from Fritz Lang for
his book! Mr. Brownlow decided the best way to share Mr. Bulleid's
excellent reviews was as an online book, and "Silents Are Golden" is
pleased to present the first installment of the book this month with
an introduction by Kevin Brownlow, the preface by Fritz Lang and Mr.
Bulleid's first chapter, a superb review of "The Battleship
Potemkin." Go to our main page and you'll see the banner link to the
book. Check back regularly as we add one more "chapter" to his book
on the first day of the month.
Also, this is the 10th anniversary for "Silents Are Golden" which
debuted in July 1998. To celebrate, we are giving away 10 DVD's!
Check out the website for details on how to register for the drawing
at the end of the month.
