ABC is in the VERY early stages of shifting to mini disk as the preferred
method of delivery of TC transcription tracks.

Such a shame.....we are now officially moving into the realm of multiple
formats for a non air service at a time of severe downsizing and budget
cuts.

The standard breaking news crew was 5 people;
- Producer
- Correspondent
- DP
- Sound
- Editor

Now the mandate is to get that down to 3 and the company doesn't care which
3. The idea is still floating around for the sound department to take over
the editors job in the field with laptops.

Something to think about.

The editors position will never be a freelance position.

I agree. It is completely impractical for that scenario to play out for
many reasons.
