FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAKESHORE RECORDS SCORES WITH
HAROLD & KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY
Score Album Features Original Music By George S. Clinton
(May 12, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the
original score for Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay on May
6th via iTunes and in stores on May 13th. The score album contains
original music composed by George S. Clinton.
George S. Clinton began his career in Nashville as a songwriter,
arranger and session player. He became a staff writer for Warner
Bros. Music, writing songs recorded by a wide range of artists
including Michael Jackson, Joe Cocker, and Smokey Robinson as well as
continuing his session work. He also recorded four albums as an
artist. His George Clinton Band attracted the attention of a producer
who hired him to score his first film, Cheech and Chong’s Still
Smoking.
Clinton honed his skills scoring "ninja" movies for Cannon Films, and
TV movies and miniseries. The soulful, erotic jazz for Zalman King's
Showtime anthology Red Shoe Diaries developed quite a following. His
musical inventiveness and versatility in have allowed him to
contribute scores to such diverse films as Austin Powers:
International Man of Mystery and its blockbuster sequels, and the hit
martial arts fantasy Mortal Kombat and its sequel. His credits include
John Waters' A Dirty Shame, 3000 Miles to Graceland, The Astronaut's
Wife, Wild Things, Big Momma’s House 2, The Cleaner, The Santa Clause
2: The Mrs. Clause and The Santa Clause 3.
Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay marks the triumphant return
of these two hilarious, slacker anti-heroes. The movie stars John Cho
(American Pie I & II, American Dreamz) as Harold and Kal Penn (Van
Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj, Epic Movie) as Kumar, two stoners who can’t
seem to get a break. Their last adventure found them traveling across
country to find a White Castle hamburger in order to satisfy a weed-
induced case of “the munchies.”
This time, the boys get themselves in trouble trying to sneak a bong
on board a flight to Amsterdam. Now, being suspected of terrorism,
they are forced to run from the law and try to find a way to prove
their innocence. What follows is an irreverent and epic journey of
deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild trip around the world that
is as “un-PC” as it gets.
New Line Cinema presents Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay,
currently in theaters. Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay
original score on Lakeshore Records will be available on iTunes on May
6th and in stores on May 13, 2008. Also available from Lakeshore
Records is the Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay original
soundtrack.
