There are genres at which Hollywod filmmakers are the best, and gory
torture-porn is one. In FRONTIER(S), the French invest budget,
acting, and camera- and editing-work that should have produced a
watchable entry (in circles where "watchable torture-porn" is
defined). But apparently there's also a knack to writing a workable
script. As FRONTIER demonstrates too well, mere formulistic
enthusiasm won't keep our inner ghoul awake. (Who knew?) Not
recommended.
