Hi,
can somebody run me through the use of SD442 and the 744T for 4 iso
track recording,
and the possible pitfalls and what i may have to look out for
regards

All very straight forward. Connect your four direct outputs from 442 to
744t. Direct output levels are controlled by input gain on 442 so there is a
bit of balancing needed for the stereo mix from the 442 if you are sending
to a camera or monitoring. 442 slate mic does not route to direct outs so
there is no way to verbally slate anything but you can route tone to direct
outputs if you are a 2 pop type of end o take person.

You can also feed left and right to channels one and two, and then
three and four direct outs to three and four, so that you can use one
and two as stereo or use the post fade pots rather than the smaller
input gains.

The down side of this is that if you are sending cans through the
headphones jack on the 442, you can't control which of the four
channels you have open for directors monitoring (as only one and two/
left and right will be heard).

You can also feed left and right into channels one and two, and then
direct out three and four into three and four - allowing "post fade"
pot gain mixing on one and two, which can work better for stereo
mixing, or if you find the input gain mixing to be a fiddle.

Downside is that you lose control as to which channels you can feed to
cans, if you use the jack headphone outputs on the 442 to send as
director's monitor.

You can use the 744t to send specific channels to the Comteks.
