Hell on Reels [Astoria Moving Picture Festival], named in reference to
the infamous Hell Gate Bridge spanning NYC's East River, is a new forum
for the exhibition of exceptional and unique short format moving image
works, including documentary, narrative, music video, animation, design
and experimental films.
The intention of the festival is to promote creative dialogue and
collaboration among participants within the local Queens community,
greater NYC metropolitan area and global film society. The first
installment of the festival on May 21, 2006 was a great success and
featured short films from around the globe, from Jackson Heights,
Queens to Malmo, Sweden.
Hell on Reels [Astoria Moving Picture Festival] is now gearing up for
the second, third and fourth installments of the summer series to take
place in June, July and September. All screenings are outdoors to take
full advantage of the NYC summer while it lasts!
There is no fee to submit and more than one submission is permitted.
All submissions must include a completed entry form and submissions
will not be returned.
