work some co-workers grabbed him, and took him to this nice house that
had all these posters from Verhoven movies.  Yep, it was PV's house and
he spent the evening talking to him.  Called me about 2 in the morning
and said "My God, you were right"

I guess he didn't get it. In some ways Verhoeven was serious in the

I don't think his intention should lessen your opinion of the films at
all.  I think Starship Troopers is a hoot and a half.  I love Total
Recall.  You don't realize how good Robocop is until you watch Kershner
hack at a sequel, and then it gets worse from there.
