This is a hoot!
Ben Grauer giving a play-by-play from a theater seat was surely an
innovation.
Thanks, Steve.

I know this off-topic for this group, but still of interest to its
members; and the newsgroup is a good way to get the word out. One of
the facets of the Cinerama phenomenom that I haven't seen commented on
much is the great amount of promotion that was done for the various
Cinerama productions. I know the better venue for it is
widescreenmuseum.com and Martin Hart has put tons of it up there, but
here's a great old radio show and I haven't seen this anywhere else.
I recently came across a '50s radio show called "Best of All," a
show running on NBC in the '50s. It aired an episode timed to the
release of Cinerama Holiday featuring Lowell Thomas, Louis deRochemont,
the Cinerama Orchestra, and even the two couples who were in the movie.
There's a section with Ben Gruaer, an NBC staff announcer, describing
the emotions of the bob-sled scene with the sound effects of the scene
in the background. There are some great music cuts from the Cinerama
Holiday score, including a suite from the Morton Gould score, and some
great plugs from Lowell Thomas! Since I was only a kid
when Cinerama Holiday came out, this low-fi AM broadcast is the closest
I've gotten to seeing it.
There's a link to it out here:

You can scroll down and listen or click on the download link. Just
curious what others may think of it.
