I forget who showed me this trick but I've used it for years
in tie knots. I take a piece of self stick moleskin
and wrap it around the mic head (being careful not to
block the element) and proceed as usual with the tie knot
trick. I've never had noise issues with any tie when
using moleskin. Thanks to whoever showed me this....
