The Barton Player Piano Company presents a special showing of the 1945
Technicolor classic ANCHORS AWEIGH, starring Frank Sinatra, Gene
Kelly, Kathryn Grayson. One of the great things about this film which
is directed by GEORGE SIDNEY, besides it's stars and breathtaking
TECHNICOLOR, are all of the great location shots in and around Los
Angels circa 1944, including MGM and The HOLLYWOOD BOWL. This film
made superstars out of SINATRA, KELLY and GRAYSON, and of course it
contains the famous dance Gene Kelly does with Jerry the cartoon
mouse. Thank you to Warner Bros for loaning us their 35mm
studio copy, which was restored from the original 3 strip Technicolor
separations! The proceeds from this screening will go to purchasing
materials for restoring the piano action for the Heights Wurlitzer
pipe
organ.
