Hi all,
found this at mix online magazine, an article on location sound, well
two interviews with mixers. Thought fans of "24" may be interested...

I had to laugh when I saw the article because my pal, Bill, is probably
the least technical mixer in town. He's the first to admit it when I
ribbed him about his 15 minutes of fame. Bill's forte is fighting for
mic placement and as his cable guy many moons ago, for a few shows when
he boomed, I can say that Bill was one of the finest boom persons who
every wielded a pole.

But technical, Not! Read ramps? Never. I sold him all that "new"
gear....kicking and screaming all the way. I'm sure he will be the last
to go non-linear too...and proud of it. Just shows how little gear can
mean when you understand the shots so well. He is master of the plants
and fighting shadows to get a mic close. That's what makes him a great
mixer.
