I expected the 2nd Chaplin box set, after all the hype, to get decent
placement at Tower Records in Chicago, and it did.
But this is more interesting.
Pretty much the instant the Charkey Bowers set hit the street I went
over to Tower to look for it. Took a while because they filed it
under B instead of C, but soon I found the one and only copy and
bought it.
Well, maybe they notice when something sells the instant it comes in,
because the next time I was there they had three of them. That's
nice, I thought.
Yesterday, I took a friend from out of town there. One of the things
he'd seen at my house that he wanted was Charley Bowers. So I take
him to the Bs (figuring he'd never find it on his own). And he
grabs-- the last copy. In maybe five days, they'd sold all three of
the second batch.
Hopefully this will cheer up silent DVD producers who wonder why they
bother every time a dispute about running speeds erupts here... |
