===========================================
I bought a original Nikon EA-1 remote cable for
my R10 and R8 sometime ago. After locating it with
google and negotiation per e-mail.
I opened the control-grip to see how it worked.
This is from my notes and measurements
USAGE OF ANY OF THE INFORMATION HERE
PRESENTED IS AT YOU OWN RISC!
Double check all your connections BEFORE you plug it in.
Do not short-circuit the electronics of these fine camera's.
I has six colored wires which are
connected to the pins and are switched according to this scheme:
|-------| |---------| |------| 2 expose
| | | |
|-------|------| | |------| 1 lightmeter on
| | | | | | 0 no connect
Brown Blue Red Green Yellow White
Connector pins:
Brown - - Green
Yellow - - Red
space space
White - - Blue
Viewed from the outside looking onto the pins
Some off these pins carry voltage from the batteries or
internal circuitry!
I thought to adapt a regular MC-12 control but apart from
the basic outer design there is no resemblance.
You probably have to build a connector yourself. The blades
are 1 mm thick and stick out 7mm from the connector
baseplane and have a rounded top.
Finding a suitable switch may not be easy. Probably it is better
to use one multipole to switch things 'on' and another
make/break momentary switch for the actual 'expose' circuit.
It is recommended to switch on the lightmeter first and
leave it some time to adjust the aperture. Or use the camera
in manual exposure setting
The remote control works all the time,
even when the RL switch on the camera is LOCKED!
Kinr regards,
Andre Hagers
Connect the lines and place at and dots on the end of the line
