Well I'm just a little west of Hollywood. Honolulu, Hawaii You got to do it
all here, I have equipment to mix, I boom or do the utility work if nothing
else is around. Will travel. Preferably to warm spots (or cold if I have to).

"Summerland", a new tv series for Spelling.

Rather ironic, that at this late stage of my life, I'm mixing the
hardest show I ever worked on. If only I could sell more batteries,
tape, mics, recorders.....until then, it's 6am calls at Malibu Beach.

Might be worthwhile to note what the distribution would be, as well as the
production company, as anyone who has had prior experiences with them could let
you know, or give pointers on how they operate, or what is expected...

That said, I'm about to begin production on "Firehouse TV" which has been sold
for 26 eps to NBC starting this fall. Think "Cops" but at a different fire
station in a different city each week. Reality style, HD, but focusing more on
what goes on when there isn't a fire than when there is. It's being produced
through "Special Interest Productions" out of San Francisco and will be the
first "big" show I've done since moving to LA 2.5 years ago.

No ENG or long term projects thankfully. Just day to day spots, talking
heads, infomercials etc.

Hi Ray,
The use of beech is well documented in several studies. (We use an
equivalent synthetic wood material at Lectrosonics that the engineers
refer to all the time here during design work known as "son of a
beech".) Further, double blind tests have shown that tung oil is not
statistically superior to lacquer. I think that the RAM design choices
and trade offs up to that point are reasonable. However, they made a
major error by not using oxygen free bronze for the center insert. Using
common bronze simply negates all the anti-resonance effects of beech and
they might as well have just used yellow pine for all the good it would
do.

It's posts like this that make RAMPS worth while. Where else could you
get the laboratory tested, scientific results that give you the inside
information so you can be well informed and make intelligent choices?

whole bunch of audiofile stuff snipped

The resulting problem is that most recordings end up sounding bad
unless great care was taken in the recording process. When it's done
right it is truly a thing of beauty, and it's still a cheaper hobby than
working on cars and motorcycles.

How much have you guys spent on a shotgun? I think Sanders told me his
cost as much as a Deva.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

He shoots a Krieghoff 4 barrel skeet set and it's at least the price of
a Deva. try; www.krieghoff.com for more info.

I OTOH shoot a 30 year old Ithaca Century 2 trap gun that I paid $400
for and a 35 year old Browning Superposed Broadway that was $500 when I
bought it.

The point is will your audiophile listening setup still be working like
new after 35 years?

Because I am fanatical and anal retentive. Doesn't that qualify
me?<<<<<<<<<<

As a PITA probably

BTW: I also wear $100.00 jeans, $150.00 shoes and free t-shirts :

Sorry to tell you but there is no such thing as $100 jeans. A pair of
$20 Wranglers or Levis will do the same job just fine.

Why are you a Sound Mixer again !!!???

Working on buying my first home, out of the valley, up in the mountains ,in
beautiful Heber City, Utah. Crossing my fingers for a project coming up soon
for a wonderful long 5 weeks. Other than that, things are pretty quiet here in
Utah.

I'm nearing the end of season 1 for Postcards From Buster, a new PBS childrens'
show. This month alone I'll be in Nashville [hi Glen!], the Canadian arctic, and
Puerto Rico. Next month I start a pilot for an ethnomusic series, going to
London and then west Africa.

I'm shooting a feature video documentary in Rio de Janeiro that will
be transferred to film, called "O SOL" (The Sun), which was an
independent daily newspaper which run only a few months em 1967, but
with a brilliant generation of people who never forgot those times.

I'm working on several ongoing series for HDNet including True Music, Higher
Definition, and In Concert. I am reading two scripts, both small budget,
both shooting late spring, trying to decide if I had rather do a romantic
comedy or yet another psychological (horror) thriller.
I am about thrilled out.
