I thought the movie was *exceptionally* good, but I am a tad confused.
1. At the end, Jimmy (in an almost blatant confession) admitted to Sean that
he he was "too late" in telling him that the real killers were arrested, so why
didn't Sean take him in?
2. I suppose that all wives are evil in Boston? I mean, Jimmy's wife
explains away Jimmy killing Dave by mistake, by saying how he did what he
thought was right for the family, even though "it was hard to do" and putting
it all on Celeste for telling Jimmy that Celeste thought Dave did it. Jimmy
was wrong and he knew it and rightfully felt guilty for it, so all his wife
does is remind him of his other children and then have sex with him and all is
right in the world? I would think Jimmy would have been stronger than
succuming to a piece of ass - especially since he was so focused on going
straight.
3. When Sean and his wife are at the parade also and he and Jimmy lock eyes,
Sean makes a shooting motion with his hand - does that mean he's gunning for
Sean in Dave's murder?
4. Am I suppose to believe that Dave almost deserved to die, since his name
was only half-spelled in the sidewalk (signifying that he was only half the
person he should have been) and he was obviously screwed up from his
molestation without seeking help, so he had it coming to him? I pretty much
pitied him throughout.
5. What was the deal with Sean's wife not talking to him?
6. I guess Laurence Fishburne's character being named Whitey Powers was taking
a shot at a racist Boston?
7. Anyone read the book?

I think all three deserved Oscars and it shows that the few people who know
how to act can make a good film *great*. Those three understand the craft of
acting and I was totally caught up in it.

Thanks.
