performances which totally, completely, and definitively adapted a
novelistic character onto the silver screen... so much so that it'd be
foolish for anyone else to try.


brando-vito corleone. godfather. a remake in the future? blasphemy!

o'hara-leigh. gone with the wind.

nicholson-mcmurphy. cuckoo's nest. well, maybe not definitive but
powerful.

Henry Fonda as Tom Joad.

Steve McQueen as Jake Holman.

Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch.

(Small screen but one of the best ever) Robert Duvall as Augustus McCrae.
