One request we get all the time from Euro-Horror Enthusiasts, is for
more Euro-Crime! Can't say we blame them either! So, to add to our
ever growing Italian Crime section is two new discs featuring Tomas
Milian!
THE COUNSELLOR
Also Known As
IL CONSIGLIORI
Directed by Alberto De Martino in 1973
Starring Tomas Milian, Martin Balsam, Francisco Rabal and Dagmar
Lassander
In this absolutely fantastic Italian Crime film Milian plays a
‘Family' lawyer that was accused of dirty dealings and sent away to
prison. Two years have since passed and it's time for him to become a
free man once again. Even though he is the Godson of a powerful
Mafioso, the feeling that a different, quieter life is overwhelming.
Balsam is his Godfather, and though he would have killed anybody else
for trying to break away, he looks on Milian as his own son. This
causes many problems as a war breaks out within the families. Rabal
plays an ambitious and embittered man whose thirst for power blinds
him; he no longer cares what is right, he just wants to run things… at
any cost! When the ensuing attempts to murder Milian and Balsam
instead claim the life of an innocent little girl Milian makes the
decision to come back as consigliore and fight alongside those whom he
feels he has caused so much trouble for. From then on, through San
Francisco and onward to Sicily, the streets will run red with the
blood of all those who desired to end the reign of the Don of San
Francisco! Riz Ortolani's mesmerizing music and the always
eye-catching cinematography of Aristide Massaccessi (Joe D'Amato) help
make this one of the finest Italian Mafia/crime/action movies around!
There is plenty of emotional intensity, exciting action, and even gory
violence throughout this highly recommended and seldom seen
masterpiece of the genre! Also included as a special bonus at the end
of the movie are trailers for the Italian western classics My Name Is
Nobody and Boot Hill! Enjoy this uncut print that is widescreen and in
English language with Dutch subtitles.
LIBERI ARMATI PERICOLOSI
Also Known As
YOUNG, VIOLENT, DANGEROUS
YOUNG, VIOLENT, AND DESPERATE
Directed by Romolo Guerrieri in 1976
Starring Tomas Milian and Eleonora Giorgi
Fantastic and very tightly directed Italian crime movie from a
screenplay Fernando Di Leo helped to create! Three young men embark on
a spree of robbery, murder and sexual debauchery. One of them claims
not to want to be a part of the vicious action anymore and is worried
about his fiancé, Lea (the always beautiful Giorgi). Before long, Lea
ends up an unwilling part of all that happens when she is essentially
kidnapped. Milian is the cop who is out to stop them before anyone
else is hurt or killed. This is an unrelentingly gritty and violent
movie with a pessimistic air about it that is very effective. It has
the same icy vibe as Live Like A Cop, Die Like A Man though it works
on many more levels because it takes the time to give characterization
to all involved. There are social and moral questions raised, but the
emphasis is on violent interpersonal mayhem and destruction! A true
classic that has been referred to as the Italian crime version of A
Clockwork Orange! The comparison is valid. Also, be sure to watch for
Venantino Venantini's brief cameo as a disconnected parent! Enjoy our
uncut print in English language with Greek subtitles.
Don't forget, we have other great & very rare Italian Crime films
available & more coming! Plus rare gialli, action, scifi & horror
made for you, the collector!
