I hope the film tours in this format - I agree it would be marvelous.

It will also be interesting to see how the restoration fares as from
what I gather, the bits found in the Argentine were in a pretty
decrepit state.

Curious emphasis on being uncut considering how difficult it has always
been to find all the missing parts, and all the past restored versions.

Um - the emphasis isn't so curious. This film has not been available
in its full version for eighty years. It's a miracle that the material
turned up anywhere, and that it's about to be internationally
distributed. The original 35mm print in the South American archive
was copied to 16mm for misguided "preservation" reasons (and then
destroyed) around 1960, but at least it preserved it - the sole known
copy of this titanic film, albeit in somewhat compromised quality.
This is the most sensational find of film history this century, and
probably last century too.

A bit early for such an inquiry, perhaps, but has anyone heard of the
prospects of a new complete "Metropolis" DVD release? (And, will Kino
take back its old "restored" version?)
