I have always felt that there is a fundamental mistake made by many movie
producers. They make a movie where there is absolutely no one to like. I
mean you have a bunch of characters and you don't give a shit what happens
to any of them. I'm not talking about the classic movie hero. I just
mean some character, no matter how flawed, that you like or care about.
Or at the very least find interesting.
When I find myself watching a movie like that, I usually just walk out,
turn it off or mail it back to Netflicks. I mean, what is the point of
watching a movie where none of the characters interest you? Yet I am
always amazed by how many movies are made with no interesting characters.
You'd think movie producers would have learned that these kinds of films
generally don't do well at the box office.
