The Dichroic prism (Beam-Splitter) was introduced bY Technicolor in
1951
and was used on all Technicolor Films until its demise in 1955.
This prism allowed practically all of the available light to reach the
films
and effectively doubled the speed of the system.
Where Don refers to "The Big Top" on about page 6 of 14, I think he
meant to say
"The Greatest Show on Earth" (1952).
He also knew Dr. Brian O'Brien of Todd-AO fame..
