I've started work on my 2010 Silent Film Calendar. I'm getting going a
little late, so I don't plan to have any particular theme this year. I
already have some nice stills, but I do need a few more! My main
criteria are that pictures should be of good quality, with an
interesting and varied subject matter, and that each picture be worth
looking at for a month. I prefer high-quality scans to originals, just
because I don't want to risk damaging your fine prints, but if you
have something you want to send, I'll be very careful and I'll return
it.
I also would like calendar dates for events like Cinecon, Capitalfest,
Cinevent, Slapsticon, etc. etc. and any new birthdays, weddings, or
significant historical events you've come across in your research.
There is no payment for you (or for me, for that matter), all proceeds
of the calendar sales go to organizations that preserve silent films.
In past years, contributions have gone to various archives, and this
last year I donated the money to the San Francisco Silent Film
Festival's film restoration internship project.
