I was up in Jerome last weekend and amongst the gift stores and biker
bars of this one-time mining town is a building that once held the
town's movie theatre, the Liberty. It closed down in 1925 and sat
vacant until 2003, when a group of people bought it to refurbish it.
They're reconstructing the theatre and they're just about done. (The
Lobby is now a gift shop). They intend to show silent movies in it when
they're done. If you're in AZ or driving through, head out to Jerome
and check it out! (Out in front of the theatre they had the movie
projector that was in the theatre on display -- a huge monstrosity
called the "Simplex!")

Thanks, I'm always interested in learning more about old theaters. I
wish them luck, although I cannot imagine them finding much of an
audience these days.
For those like me that live too far away, or those who'd like a peek,
before driving over to see for themselves; it's an easy search.
Here's one that I found.

Yeah, I found that too -- It's a little ahead of itself as the theatre
is still under refurbishment, but for two bucks you can go upstairs
and look around. They're just about ready to start showing movies in
it.Now, whether they're going to show film prints or DVDs remains to
be seen, but it will be interesting.
