I've got a acer AL1951 and it is not listed in sax2 either, but that
doesn't matter, i just selected "--> LCD" and "1280x1024@60HZ" wich seems
like the right setting for your monitor too.

That is good news. I had several times the problem to have to install
some hardware modules to an MS Windows system. And if in hat case you
do not have the drivers fpr that module you really do have a problem.

With Linux it seems to be much more easy. For example those monitor
probs. There are always the VESA modes and thes most times do work.

When I bought my new monitor Linux did not know it, but with VEAS it
was no problem.

Same with some ethernet cards, no chance with Windows.

We bought a used SFC pc for our son and it came without any software.
No chance to install Windows, no problem with Linux. Just install,
configure and be happy.

I admit, there are some hardware modules where you will find
unsolulable problems, but for the normal case there is a way to get it
running. (But not fpr the Medion scanners as I read some time ago,
quite a pity).

Be happy.
