Fellow SuSE(rs),
Below is an email I sent to SuSE programmers about issues I felt had to
be handled, but they did nothing. Read and tell me what you think. I
have also attached the graphics explaining my gripes. I am no programmer
otherwise I'd have fixed these long ago.
(Update) I sent this long ago but the message did not get through. So I
remove the attachments and leave the message.
++++++++++++Below is the email+++++++++++
Dear SuSE Programmers,
Thanx for your SuSE product. I am using the free SuSE
9.2 Linux downloaded from yr servers. I outline issues I have with SuSE
9.2 which you were informed about long ago.
Now...on attached the Yast2_1.png file, when you click the
`apply' button, you are asked whether you really want
to abort instead! You then find another window in the
background waiting for you too. This window you did
not open. This surely shouldn't be the case.
On the second file, there is no `Run as root' button
one is asked to click. We istead have something to do
with `Administrator'. I am fine with this but new
people to Linux will have confusion here.
I have reported this a number of times before, but
this is the first time I am using this address. I'd be
happy if we were informed where to send bug reports. I
have informed KDE programmers on this particular bug
but they say it's a Yast issue.
That's all for now. I will file more bug reports as I
find them. Meanwhile, rest assured that SuSE is
appreciated here.
Bye for now.

your requests/opinions might carry more weight if you paid for the product. |

Sure it should. As you absolutely did NOT explain what happens, how do
you think they are going to know? Look at your picture and try to figure
it out? They really have better things to do.

I have confusion as well of what you are saying. There is NO
administrator on Linux. If you want one, make one.
If you like a substitute windows, don accept the substitute, use the
real thing and run Windows.
You did NOT provide what kind of hardware you were running.
You did NOT state hoe excactly you got to the things where you got
You did NOT give any real information they could work with.
You did NOT send it trough the official channel
I think it is normal they did not react. If you don't like it they did
not do what you wanted, use another distro.

You might have attached them, but this isn't a binary newsgroup and a
lot of news servers strip out binary attachments. If you expect people
to see them you need to post them on a web page somewhere...

Why? It is not as if the people at SUSE will be paying any attention to
a mail that has not gone through www.suse.com/feedback
Oh, so we can first look at it and make it clear as to why he should not
send it in.

Exactly. I was speaking in general. In this case what the OP was
attempting to show might have been totally irrevilant, but in other
cases it might be valid. So just as a word to the wise (but possibly
uninformed) I mentioned it. You yourself have posted links to graphics
many times which have been helpful/relivant. Another might not know
that the binaries get stripped by many servers...
