I'm looking for program that sits on desktop and takes notes or todo
lists. It would be nice for it to have transparency. Thank you. |

Do you mean you want a program which lets you create todo list or notes?
If yes, then under KDE, the Kontact integrated suite of programs could well
be your answer..
The two relevant ones are probably KOrganiser - not unlike MS Outlook, and
KNotes - creates electronic post-it notes.

Under GNOME you can add "sticky notes" to the panel, sort of the computer
equilivant to post-it notes. When you click on you get get little note
windows on the screen that you can type little notes, to-do lists and
stuff. |

Oh and I forgot, for a more full featured app... Novell's Evolution, which
is under Email, also has a calendar/datebook style thing, and a "to-do"
list style function called tasks. |

I use 'note'. It's a console program but you can of course use transparent
terminal windows :)

I want one that is allways visible on desktop, and uses minimal memory
resources and can be made semi-transparent. Lot to ask but I want it |

Under KDE, I use KNotes. You can of course set it always on top or always
below. You can't have transparency though, unless you upgrade to Xorg 6.8
and use the tools for it (or wait for mdk10.2)
