In configure desktop the screensaver keeps crashing. Can't change the 4
minute annoying screensaver from kicking in.

This RC2 is not workable for me on the laptop. It is slower than cat
shit. I tried both browsers, Firefox and Seamonkey and 3 desktops, KDE4,
Gnome and XFCE. I did not set up any desktop effects. I hope the final
release is better, if not I can't use it. |

mmm just did a "zypper dup" from RC1 on this T61p/4Gb/1680x1050.
Result is fast, slick, Gnome desktop. No problems with wireless LAN,
still to check out Bluetooth. No problems to report, all-in-all looks
very good on the surface/user-interface level. Had to recompile some
stuff for NVidia and compiz. Had to search for compiz-emerald, but no
issues. KDE also works for me, but prefer Gnome. Gnome-3 preview still
a bit rough at the edges.
Summary - looking good.
Regards - Barclay Weir
For the first time I did "zypper dup" with RC1 x64 Gnome and there were
around 11xx hundred packages that d/l and installed and it took about a
hour or so [3Mb DSL] but everything installed as it should and is working
well now.
I wish they would add the Nvidia/ATI repo's sooner so we could try out
the Nvidia proprietary driver and Compiz effects. Does OpenSuse always
wait for final to add proprietary video driver repositories?
I decided to use Ubuntu 9.10 instead. It's fast and works great. |

OK thanks, that's all I'm needing now

After a kernel upgrade on my openSUSE 11.1 32-bit Gnome desktop system
killed my computer Saturday night, I decided to install from the
openSUSE 11.2 x86_64 RC2 Gnome live cd and am very happy with it so far.
I'm not exactly sure what happened, but after the kernel upgrade I
shutdown the pc. The next day when I booted up the only option I had was
boot from a floppy. So much for waiting until the EOL of 11.1 as I had
planned. |
