This is a list of ALL steps required to install a HP MFP 4100 laser
printer on Ubuntu-9.10 via the host, a Asus EeePC900:-
1) Click Admin
2) Click Printing
3) Click New printer
..... system auto searches for a printer, and finds my networked HP
laserjet MFP 4100 multifunction printer...
4) Select the printer, click "forward"
5) Tick options available for this unit, i.e. Hard drive, Duplexer, 64MB
ram.
6) Describe printer, set location to "tp-office"
7) Print test page
.... printer prints lovely Ubuntu test page.
DONE!
Note: this is not a tin pot $30 inkjet, (the only kind that flatfish the
troll can afford), but a HP laser office printer about circa 2000.
It prints 25 sheets a minute, scans, and prints, or scans and emails,
all standalone, single sided or double sided via its Duplexer. It has a
internal WEB page for configs and supplies stats, such as toner levels
etc.
